Bebat and PV Cycle - Belgium

Bebat

Bebat is a Belgian non-profit organization (vzw) responsible for the collection and recycling of batteries, in accordance with European legislation on battery recycling. Producers and importers finance this system through an environmental contribution. This contribution is charged when portable, industrial, or automotive batteries (including built-in batteries) are first placed on the Belgian market, via an annual lump-sum contribution and declaration.

All our battery products come with Bebat included as standard. However, you will not find us on the Bebat participant list (as of 2026), because our battery suppliers are already affiliated with Bebat and handle this contribution and invoice it to Ecowatts. In Belgium, our invoices clearly state that the Bebat contribution is included. For further questions, you can contact us via info@ecowatts.be

If you wish to receive an invoice without the Bebat environmental contribution, for example because you are a foreign customer or your company handles this contribution itself, please contact us before placing your order. For some ESS products, you can select the contribution yourself. In all other cases, Bebat (just like Recupel) will be charged automatically.

PV Cycle

PV CYCLE Belgium is a non-profit organization responsible for the collection and recycling of end-of-life solar panels in Belgium. The organization ensures that solar panels are processed in an environmentally friendly manner and that valuable materials such as glass and aluminum are reused. PV CYCLE helps producers and importers comply with Belgian and European WEEE legislation. In this way, the organization contributes to sustainability and a circular economy.

The operations of PV CYCLE Belgium are funded by producers and importers of solar panels. They pay an environmental contribution when solar panels are placed on the Belgian market. This contribution is included in the purchase price and is ultimately paid by the consumer.

Supplier Responsibility

Suppliers are ultimately responsible for declaring the mandatory contributions and the associated settlement. Not all of our - mainly foreign - competitors adhere to the applicable EU regulations, which means some products can sometimes be offered at significantly lower prices.

We therefore advocate for a harmonized European approach, to create a level playing field, prevent distortion of competition, and accelerate the energy transition in an affordable and efficient manner.
