BYD B-Box Premium HV Battery Control Unit 2.0 + Base, item 16448287-00.
BYD's proven HVS and HVM high-voltage series have received a practical update with the new BCU 2.0. Thanks to external plug-in ports, removing the cover plate for connecting communication and power cables is completely a thing of the past. Standard RJ45 connections and MC4 connectors now allow for faster and simpler installation. When using the supplied BCU 2.0 connectors, use appropriate crimping pliers and follow BYD's instructions.
A Battery-Box Premium HVS consists of 2 to 5 HVS battery modules connected in series to achieve a usable capacity of 5.1 to 12.8 kWh. In addition, direct parallel connection of up to 3 identical Battery-Box Premium HVS allows a maximum capacity of 38.4 kWh. Possibility to scale up by adding HVS modules or parallel HVS stacks later.
A Battery-Box Premium HVM consists of 3 to 8 HVM battery modules connected in series to achieve a usable capacity of 8.3 to 22.1 kWh. In addition, a direct parallel connection of up to 3 identical Battery-Box Premium HVM allows a maximum capacity of 66.2 kWh. Possibility to scale up by adding HVM modules or parallel HVM stacks later.
The BYD battery from the HVS series, which stands for High-Voltage Small, has the smallest power, as the name suggests. A standard package consists of 2 battery modules with a combined power of 5.1 kWh. The HVS is expandable to a maximum of 5 modules, reaching a total power of 12.8 kWh. Each individual module has a power of 2.56 kWh with an internal voltage of 102.4V. Whether a total of 5 modules can be used depends on the battery or hybrid inverter used. You can connect a maximum of 3 battery towers in parallel – i.e., 3 x 5 battery modules – reaching a maximum power of 38.4 kWh.
The BYD HVM battery, or High-Voltage Medium, is larger in power than the HVS. A basic package consists of 3 battery modules with a combined capacity of 8.3 kWh. This model can be expanded to a maximum of 8 modules with a combined capacity of 22.1 kWh. Each module has a capacity of 2.76 kWh and an internal voltage of 51.2V.
Also with this model there is a minimum. You must use at least 3 modules for a functioning battery. A maximum of 3 identical systems can be connected in parallel – i.e., 3 x 8 – reaching a maximum power of 66.2 kWh.
